BuzzFeed Is In Hot Water With ‘The New York Times’ Lawyers For Its Slogan
By Izza Sofia, 12 Oct 2017
BuzzFeed’s new Twitter Live show is no longer “too lit for print.”
BuzzFeed has removed the slogan for its show, AM to DM, from all graphics after the The New York Times’ lawyers got in touch. For more than 120 years, the Times has boasted the slogan ‘All the News That's Fit to Print.’
New York Times apparently thought the AM to DM slogan ‘All the News Too Lit for Print’ was a little too close. “We can confirm that the Times did reach out about AM to DM’s slogan,” a BuzzFeed spokesperson says.
“We’re glad they are following along with our new show, like the rest of our robust audience over the last few weeks.” While the Times took the step of lawyering up, the reaction to the AM to DM slogan was not much kinder elsewhere.
The slogan has received mixed responses from the internet. One user said, “When my family asks what finally killed me, tell them it was the phrase “All the news too lit for print.”” Another user said, “AM to DM? News too lit for print? BuzzFeed needs to cut it out. #cringe.” Take a look at some responses below.
