After its bank-breaking iPhone X and incrementally-enhanced iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, Apple is anticipated to introduce three new models later this year and hopefully salvage its lackluster former releases.
The upcoming models of different sizes will carry faster processing speeds, longer battery life and higher screen resolution, amongst others.
CNET offers you a low-down on what to expect in its up-to-date article on Apple’s 2018 phones, which will be continuously restored as more information is released.
In the meantime, here are some highlights on the gadgets.
Potential September 2018 release
The next iPhone is speculated to release in September 2018. Although the company has not made any official announcement, this annual ritual is not expected to change in 2018. Apple has remained with its back-to-school timeframe since the iPhone 5 launch in 2012.
One of the phones could be called iPhone 11
Apple could possibly rename its ‘S’ series to ‘XS’ and ‘XS Plus’. The extra alphabet might not sit well with some, leading others to wonder if the next iPhone could be called iPhone 11.
Phones will sport larger screens
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple has created two supersize iPhones: the 6.5-inch OLED model as well as the 6.1-inch LCD version. Apple might not release its 5.8-inch iPhone X due to low sales. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that three models are due for release this year based on the design of the present flagship phone.
Lower price point
Apple could be eliminating OLED display, 3D Touch and the second rear camera to make the 6.1-inch model affordable to users. According to Kuo, the 6.1-inch LCD model could retail between US$649 and US$749, around the same price range as the iPhone 8.
