With a single snap of his fingers, ‘Thanos’ created a cliffhanger like no other in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s been almost two months since fans had to deal with the devastating ending—and clearly, not everyone is over it.
Stan Lee, the co-creator of several Marvel Comics icons, has taken to Twitter to express his anguish over the supervillain’s actions.
“Holy smoke!” he exclaims in a video. “I go out of town for a few days, and when I get back, I find out that ‘Thanos’ has destroyed everything! All my characters. That’s the last time I ever take a discount vacation!”
Not allowing ‘Thanos’ to dampen his spirits, Lee reclaims his power as ruler of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sends a stern warning to the character.
“Well, unfortunately it means a lot of new work for me. Don’t worry—before you know it, I’ll have our friends up and at ’em. And if I were ‘Thanos’, I’d start getting out of town. ‘Excelsior’!”
Stan Lee has to give ‘Thanos’ some credit, though. The villain’s “sacrifice” was part of the reason Infinity War shattered so many records since it premiered in April.
