Whether you’re thinking of making a cool Christmas e-card or are just wishing to push new content on Instagram, creating a stop motion video might be a novel way to do that.
Apart from having to photograph your subject shot by shot, the process is pretty easy on Adobe Photoshop. In this neat tutorial, Photoshop Evangelist Julieanne Kost shares how you can produce a simple stop motion animation within the Adobe software.
To start out, Kost has all of her photos in Lightroom, with their colors adjusted and their aspect ratios cropped to 16:9. She then selects all of them to open as layers in Photoshop.
In Photoshop, she triggers a timeline by selecting ‘Timeline’ under ‘Window’, and then chooses ‘Create Frame Animation’.
When converting the layers to frames, she points out that they might be ordered backwards, so she selects all of the frames and clicks ‘Reverse Frames’.
From there, you can simply tweak the time between each frame, and once that’s done, you’ll just have to export the project as a video or GIF.
