Apple’s 2020 flagship iPhones are anticipated to sport the most significant design changes since iPhone X was released in 2017, most evidently featuring metallic frames alike that of the iPhone 4.
It appears that the tech giant might have just finalized prototyping for the iPhone 12 series, so the models might make it in time for its usual fall release despite delays caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to a specs leak obtained by tech analyst Jon Prosser, the iPhone 12 series will feature four models: two sizes of iPhone 12, an iPhone 12 Pro, and an iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Like the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 will be the mid-tier variation of the series, and is expected to be encased in an aluminum frame. It will also supposedly arrive with two rear cameras, and will come in 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch sizes.
The iPhone 12 Pro is believed to measure 6.1 inches, while the Pro Max might boast a 6.7-inch size, making it the largest iPhone yet. The two models are expected to feature a more premium stainless steel frame, along with triple rear cameras and a 3D-depth LiDAR scanner, which was first introduced in the 2020 iPad Pro. The technology measures the distance around objects as far as five meters (16.4 feet) away.
Across the board, the iPhones are said to feature smaller notches, A14 chips and 5G support.
In a rare decision, the highly-secretive Apple started letting employees take prototypes for upcoming products home to work on in response to the coronavirus crisis, making it more possible to meet deadlines. However, the list of staff allowed to carry products out will need to be authorized by executives.
The first iPhone that Apple is anticipated to debut this year won’t be the iPhone 12, but a “budget” iPhone 9 or iPhone SE with an expected price of US$399. While the smartphone was supposedly planned for a March release, the launch has apparently been postponed to mid-April.

Final details line up pretty well with what Kuo said last year! 🤯
